Why are you excited for 2012 Fittest Entrepreneur?

To lead by example and be able to help others live a healthy lifestyle through being active – working out, eating well and loving life!

What is your strategy for staying fit with your demanding schedule?

Planning and being proactive is key when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle. Life will always get in the way and what has helped me is to look ahead weekly what my calendar looks like, so that I can plan my workouts … whether it’s AM or PM. It’s important to plan accordingly to make time for my workouts and often have backup workout times just in case…

What is your current favorite workout to do and why?

Currently, I am really into the TRX and TABATA workouts. I’m finding thats TRX classes engage the core and allows a great full body workout whether it is focused on cardio or strength focus. The TABATA class is an interval based training class that builds endurance and optimizing VO2 Max – which helps with my long distance running.

Why is being a fit entrepreneur important to you?

The main important factor with being fit or working out is I find that I am able to manage my work load better. Working out and staying active allows me to plan accordingly and also gives me the mental strength to balance and handle the stresses of work when it comes to random fire drills and action items that were needed…yesterday.

What is your largest fitness accomplishment in the past year?

The largest fitness accomplishment within the year is being injury free! Being competitive, it is easy to push one’s self too hard and part of being fit is to also take care of one’s self. I’ve had several accomplishments from a PR perspective or venturing into new fitness classes, but at the end of the day….if one doesn’t take care of themselves with working out safely – it defeats the purpose of being fit, when one is benched.

Give one piece of advice to others looking to get fit and healthy as a busy professional.

Ensure you have a support group – whether it’s family, friends or co-workers. It’s easy to put things off, so being surrounded by individuals whom are also focused with fitness or supportive of your endeavors will help keep you going and hitting your goals too!

What is your favorite healthy meal?

Baked Dill Salmon, Cilantro Lime infused Quinoa and Roasted Garlic Butternut Squash.
